Christian Therapy for Men
Male Christian therapist specializing in online therapy for Christian men throughout Ohio & Florida
Are you struggling to discover the peace of Christ in your life?
-
Perhaps you feel stressed, afraid, trapped, or uncertain. Maybe you feel down, depressed, inadequate, or hopeless. Or perhaps you feel confused, angry, ashamed, or helpless. It may be hard to admit to others that you’re struggling, or you don’t have many trusted people to turn to.
No matter what you’re experiencing, it’s testing your trust in God and your ability to cope.
-
Maybe your relationship is on the rocks, full of disconnect, miscommunication, misunderstandings, or conflict. Perhaps you try to fix problems in your relationship but it doesn’t go over well or you can’t fix them and feel powerless. Or maybe you feel like you need to be the “strong one” in your relationship and can’t share how much you’re really struggling yourself.
Perhaps your relationships with family members are strained, challenging, or dysfunctional and you don’t know what to do.
-
Perhaps you have had doubts about your faith, are questioning why God is allowing your suffering, or are angry at Him for not answering your prayers. Maybe you feel like you are the problem, feeling ashamed and full of regret from the past, or weak in your faith.
You may be struggling to pray to God on a regular basis, or simply not talking to Him at all. Perhaps you think you’re “not good enough” or feel like a failure as a Christian or as a man.
Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:
Struggling to keep up with things you would typically enjoy, let alone handle daily responsibilities and challenges
Experiencing alone and isolated in your suffering and in your relationships
Feeling afraid, confused, weak, or “not good enough” and longing for the peace of Christ
Christian Therapy for Men can help.
It may feel impossible now, but you can identify the root of the problems you’re experiencing and no longer have to figure it out alone.
You can improve your mental health and improve your relationship with your loved ones, God, and yourself.
You can learn the tools that will help resolve your problems, so you can discover clarity, confidence, strength, joy, purpose, and peace. And I can help you get there.

My approach to therapy for men comes from a place of hope: believing that you are a good man and that you can persevere and rediscover courage, strength, trust in God, and peace.
Feeling weak and not good enough doesn’t have to be your story.
I can help you get there.
Common questions about Christian Therapy for Men
-
I offer therapy for Christian men that is evidence-based clinical mental health counseling infused with Christian spirituality and the wisdom of the Church when desired by my clients. As a Christian, man, and licensed professional counselor who “gets it,” I proudly offer therapy that holistically addresses the mental, relational, and spiritual concerns of men using my extensive experience of working with many men just like you.
I do not offer “spiritual direction,” “biblical counseling,” or “pastoral counseling,” which often place more emphasis on advanced theological training, spiritual exercises, and spiritual advice and less emphasis on mental health counseling; however, I encourage my clients to seek such alternative spiritual support when it is helpful to them and their situation, even sometimes pursuing it while also in therapy!
-
I help men with a number of different specific issues related to anxiety (fear, restlessness, stress), depression (feeling down, hopeless, tired), spirituality, relationship challenges, dysfunctional family dynamics, anger, OCD (intrusive thoughts or fears and repetitive behaviors), scrupulosity (persistent fears related to faith), grief, infertility & pregnancy loss, being single not by choice, and more. Contact me to discuss whether I’m a good fit for your specific needs!
-
I work with adults who are over the age of 18, including young men, adult men, and older men. I typically work with individual men, except in the case of couples seeking therapy together for grief, infertility, or the loss of a pregnancy or child (If that’s you, perhaps you’d be interested in working with a male therapist as a couple!).
As a Christian therapist, I work with Christians of all types, including Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox Christians, non-denominational Christians, and others. And although I specialize in providing therapy to Christian men, you do not need to be Christian in order to work with me if we both believe I am a good fit for your needs! If you are not Christian, I am happy to provide secular evidence-based counseling for your unique situation that respects your specific spiritual background.

Therapy for men sessions with me are relaxed and conversational. No need for formality or need to pretend to feel “strong” here- you can be yourself and I will be my authentic-male-therapist-self as we walk together as brothers in Christ through the ups and downs of your journey as a man and focus on you and your unique needs. Some sessions may be heavy when you need to address difficult issues; but there are other times when you need a laugh and we joke about how the University of Michigan still sucks or we are celebrating the relief you currently feel. Therapy with me is collaborative and I welcome your feedback and questions. I show genuine care and respect for you in session to help you feel comfortable as we work together to achieve your goal of experiencing relief.
I like to start sessions with updates since your last session- how was that football game? Did you get that house project done like you hoped? Then we will talk about what is on your mind: your past or recent experiences, the impact your main concerns have on your life, current stressors or joys in your life, etc. We will spend much time in session giving you space to express yourself and find clarity. We also may learn more specific tools or strategies, maybe even trying a coping exercise in session. All this is done with a judgment-free and person-centered approach focused on what you need. Finally, we will wrap up our conversation by confirming our next appointment and, if faith is important to you, closing with a personalized prayer offered by me just for you.

Therapy for men may be a good fit for you if you are ready to not suffer alone anymore and are ready to walk with a supportive Christian professional who gets your struggles and your faith as a man. You may be afraid of the future and uncomfortable with your feelings, but you’re ready to face the discomfort of talking about them in order to get the help and relief you deserve. You are willing to self-reflect and have an open mind to what you may learn in session about yourself, your experience, and living in healthier ways. You’re ready to do what it takes in session and outside session in your daily life to restore peace and strength in your life. Therapy is a big investment of time, money, and energy, but you are ready to commit to the process.
Although I specialize in supporting Christian men through therapy, you do not need to be Christian in order to work with me if we both believe I am a good fit for your needs because of my areas of expertise, my male identity, my personality, and my approach to therapy!

How long you need to be in therapy depends on your particular situation and individual needs. Many of my clients find ongoing counseling every week in the beginning and every 1-2 weeks later on to be helpful; this could be for several months, a year, or more, depending on your preferences and needs. You will know when to decrease your sessions further or to discontinue sessions when you feel sufficient relief and are ready to face future challenges with less support from me. Ultimately, I want a timeline that works best for you, and I will tailor the counseling process to fit your unique needs. There is no “right” answer for everyone on this, but there is a good answer for you, and I’ll help you find it!

Contact me to schedule a free consultation and I will reply to make it happen! During that 30-minute phone conversation, I will ask you to briefly describe your concerns that bring you to counseling and your goals for our work together. I will answer any questions or concerns that you may have about starting therapy, to make sure you are confident I am a good fit for you! If we both agree I am a good fit for your needs, I will then ask for some additional basic information about you, confirm some logistical details, and confirm my current availability for scheduling. Finally, if we’re both ready, I will schedule your first appointment, and I will send you some instructions and the needed paperwork to complete before that appointment. Off we go!
